Beijing, 9 May 2025 – The International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) convened a Council meeting on 9 May 2025, during which Mr. JIA Shen was unanimously appointed as the new Secretary-General of the ICDPASO Secretariat.
In accordance with the ICDPASO Charter, the Council deliberated and approved the nomination submitted by the ICDPASO chairman. Following a unanimous vote by all Council members, Mr. JIA Shen was formally elected to lead the Secretariat.
Mr. JIA Shen brings professional expertise and extensive experience in the fields of international commercial dispute resolution and institutional management. His appointment to the Secretariat will further propel ICDPASO's efforts to deepen global commercial cooperation, uphold multilateral mechanisms, and promote the integration of commercial and legal frameworks. This will also strengthen the development of an efficient one-stop full-chain dispute resolution mechanism, thereby serving and advancing the liberalization and facilitation of global trade and investment.
Mr. YU Jianlong, Chairman of ICDPASO, on behalf of all council members, extended heartfelt gratitude to outgoing Secretary-General Ms. SHEN Peilan. During her tenure, Ms. SHEN demonstrated exceptional professionalism and innovation, steering the Secretariat to implement organizational strategies, optimize operational efficiency, and steadily advance initiatives that significantly elevated ICDPASO’s influence in dispute prevention and global governance, injecting robust momentum into the institution’s development.
Chairman YU expressed confidence that under Secretary-General JIA’s leadership, the Secretariat will persist in promoting the concept of dispute prevention and resolution services, expand international cooperation networks, and forge closer ties with members to drive innovation in mechanisms and practices, thereby establishing a more credible and influential international legal and commercial service platform.
Ms. ZHANG Yuejiao, Honorary Chairperson of ICDPASO, also commended Ms. SHEN’s leadership, highlighting her pivotal role in transforming ICDPASO into a pioneering “integrated institution for commercial dispute prevention and resolution,” and her substantial contributions to global commercial legal development.
Looking ahead, Ms. ZHANG urged the Secretariat, under Mr. JIA’s stewardship, to uphold the principle of “extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits” and build an internationalized, law-based dispute resolution platform. She expected that ICDPASO will strengthen the core function of dispute prevention, establishing a one-stop multidisciplinary resolution mechanism, leveraging AI technology to create a smart legal platform, nurturing global talent, and safeguarding institutional integrity—all aimed at positioning ICDPASO as the world’s preferred venue for commercial dispute resolution and advancing an open, prosperous, and stable global economy.
