ICDPASO Secretary General Jason CHIA Invited to Attend the China Forum on International Legal Cooperation (2026)

Shenzhen, September 22 to 23,2026-the China Forum on International Legal Cooperation (2026), hosted by the China Law Society, was successfully held. Mr. Jason CHIA, Secretary General of International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO), attended the Forum upon invitation and delivered remarks at the session on "International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement."

Secretary General Jason CHIA noted that as global industrial and supply chains continue to extend and cross-border transactional relationships grow increasingly complex, geopolitical factors, export controls, sanctions compliance, exchange rate fluctuations and cross-border data flows are becoming intertwined, steadily escalating the cost of commercial disputes. International commercial dispute resolution is shifting from "post-dispute settlement" to whole-process management, and dispute prevention should become an independent institutional module. He called on enterprises to incorporate dispute prevention clauses into their dispute resolution clauses and make broader use of third-party expert review mechanisms, so that disputes can be resolved through non-adversarial means at the embryonic stage; on international legal practitioners to treat prevention-led, one-stop dispute resolution as a priority and advance the connectivity of mechanisms and mutual recognition of rules; and on the business and legal communities to attach greater importance to international organization platforms, strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, and establish bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms.

Also speaking at the session were Teresa Cheng SC, Secretary-General of the International Organization for Mediation; Gao Zicheng, Vice President of the China Law Society and President of the All China Lawyers Association; Saskeia Alicia Liverpool, Legal Officer of Aurora Gold Mines Inc. of Guyana; Ruan Na, Deputy Secretary-General of the Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Court / China (Beijing) Securities and Futures Arbitration Center; Manuel Torres Salazar, Partner and Chief Representative of the Shanghai Representative Office of J&A Garrigues, S.L.P., Spain; Enrico Toti, Representative of the China Desk at the Milan Office of ADVANT Nctm, Professor of Chinese Law at the University of Roma Tre and Visiting Professor at Shanghai International Studies University; Susan Finder, Distinguished Long-Term Visiting Scholar at Peking University School of Transnational Law and Expert Member of the International Commercial Expert Committee of the Supreme People's Court of China; Loh Chang Woo, President of the Malaysia China Legal Cooperation Society; Zhou Jia, Representative of the Austria-China Association and Founder and Partner of Mono Law, Vienna, Austria; Kwai Huen Wong, Council Member of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South China International Arbitration Center (Hong Kong) (SCIAHK) and Former Chairman of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC); and Bruno Barata, President of the International Relations Commission of the Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association.
