On the afternoon of August 28, 2026, the Secretariat of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) and the Machinery Industry Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT Machinery Industry Sub-Council) jointly held a special business training session.
In his remarks, Secretary-General Jason CHIA offered prospects and messages on business scenarios such as helping enterprises achieve compliant overseas operations and expanding diverse cooperation under the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Cooperation Mechanism for the Machinery Industry (Advanced Manufacturing).
President ZHOU Weidong said that, drawing on this cooperation mechanism, the two sides had jointly carried out enterprise visits and research, special studies, and a review of relevant issues in the first half of 2026. He expressed the hope that colleagues in all posts would actively turn what they had learned into practical results and jointly help enterprises achieve high-quality development in international operations.
In the thematic presentations, ZHONG Yuan, Director of Case Management of ICDPASO, drawing on case practice, gave a briefing on the concept of international commercial dispute prevention, typical types of disputes, and the connection mechanism between mediation and arbitration. QIAN Yazhuo, Deputy Director of the Patent Litigation Division of the CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office, discussed overseas intellectual property protection for Chinese enterprises, focusing on common risks such as patent litigation in the U.S. federal courts, Section 337 investigations, and preliminary injunctions at European trade fairs, and offered suggestions on prevention and response in exhibition-related rights protection. Participants then exchanged views on specific issues arising from overseas exhibitions, international cooperation, and day-to-day services for enterprises.
This training was a concrete practice in implementing the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Cooperation Mechanism for the Machinery Industry (Advanced Manufacturing). Taking this training as a starting point, the two sides will improve a standing mechanism for study and exchange and further develop commercial dispute prevention and settlement services for the industry.
