Beijing, August, 2026 - The Secretariat of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) and the Beijing Office of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) held the Bilateral Commercial Legal Cooperation Committee Liaison Mechanism Meeting online. Relevant representatives from the ICDPASO Secretariat, KOTRA's Beijing Office, the Division of Legal Cooperation of the CCPIT Department of Legal Affairs, and the Commercial Law Center of CCPIT Shandong Council attended the meeting and exchanged views.
At the meeting, Secretary-General Jason CHIA introduced the bilateral cooperation mechanism and ICDPASO's recent achievements. He put forward suggestions on establishing a regular communication mechanism, strengthening cooperation in enterprise legal services, and advancing follow-up cooperation. Mr. CHOI Kang-rok, Deputy Director of KOTRA's Beijing Office, and Ms. LI Lihua, Director, introduced KOTRA's work priorities and the legal needs of enterprises operating in China, and shared their views on future cooperation.Ms. YU Lixia, Director of the Commercial Law Center of CCPIT Shandong Council, and Mr. CAO Baiquan, head of the Center's legal affairs team, drew on their work experience to make cooperation proposals on supporting the cross-border operations of Chinese and Korean enterprises, preventing economic and trade legal risks, and preventing and resolving commercial disputes.
The participants exchanged views on leveraging the role of the Bilateral Commercial Legal Cooperation Committee, improving the regular liaison mechanism, conducting thematic exchanges and surveys of enterprise needs, and strengthening information sharing and professional resource coordination. All parties agreed to further identify cooperation needs and actionable items so as to provide more targeted legal service support for the cross-border operations and investment cooperation of Chinese and Korean enterprises.
Established in 1962, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) is the Republic of Korea's national organization responsible for promoting trade and investment under the ministry responsible for trade, industry and energy. KOTRA operates 131 overseas offices in 85 countries, including 21 offices in China. It supports Korean companies in expanding into overseas markets and facilitates foreign investment in Korea and international economic and trade cooperation.
