Beijing, January 30, 2026 - The Secretariat of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) held a liaison meeting with the UK 48 Group Club to advance bilateral cooperation and strengthen legal services liaison. Mr. Stephen Perry, China Reform Friendship Medal Recipient and Honorary President of the UK 48 Group Club, attended the meeting and engaged in exchanges.
During the meeting, Secretary-General Mr. Jason CHIA introduced the latest progress of ICDPASO in areas such as expert pool development and international events. Mr. Stephen Perry expressed high appreciation for the advancements made by ICDPASO. Both sides reviewed the historical experience and contemporary significance of the “Icebreaker Mission,” and held in-depth discussions on cooperation in areas including participation in international seminars and the cultivation of legal professionals. Dedicated exchanges also took place on dispute prevention and resolution for Chinese-foreign joint ventures. This liaison meeting was held on the occasion of the British Prime Minister’s official visit to China for the first time in eight years. Both sides unanimously agreed that they are willing to take this opportunity to further strengthen practical cooperation, provide higher-quality services and safeguards for cross-border economic and trade exchanges as well as legal cooperation between China and the UK, and work to jointly foster a stable, fair, transparent, and predictable international business environment.
The UK 48 Group Club was founded in 1954 and has long been committed to promoting economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and the UK. It wields significant influence in business, cultural, and academic spheres. Its predecessor was the first Western trade delegation to visit the People’s Republic of China, also known as the “Icebreakers.”
