A Dispute Between a Chamber of Commerce and Industry of an East Asia Country and a Chinese Food Industry

Published: 2023-04-23 14:18

The ICDPASO received trade assistance requests from a number of Chinese food industry import and export enterprises, trade associations and the chamber of commerce and industry of an East Asia country for the issuance of certificates of origin and customs clearance. According to Chinese enterprises, the East Asia country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry requires Chinese enterprises to purchase such food raw materials through it at prices between 40% and 50% higher than the market price. Otherwise, general certificates of origin for their goods would not be issued, resulting in dozens of enterprises blocking imports. The volume of goods stranded in this East Asian country amounted to 4,000 tonnes, with a total value of about RMB 550 million.
